15 Days Uganda Safari is a unique package you shouldn’t miss booking, especially if you want to fall in love with Uganda’s diverse primates, savannah game, birds, and culture. Expect to spend up to 14 nights on your signature safari while exploring amazing tourist destinations such as Murchison Falls National Park with an en route tour at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Kibale National Park promises you an unmatched chimpanzee trekking experience.
From Kibale, your Uganda safari proceeds to the scenic Queen Elizabeth National Park with en route photography at the Kikorongo Equator crossing. Game drives and a boat tour await you on a visit to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The next spot for you to explore will be Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, specifically for mountain gorilla trekking. A blend of authentic Batwa cultural experiences will be enjoyed in the surrounding Batwa community.
After the Bwindi tour, you will have an incredible time at Lake Bunyonyi, which has 29 Islands and is known for its uniquely interesting birds. Enjoy a guided canoeing excursion on Lake Bunyonyi, and it is from here that you can connect to Lake Mburo National Park. At Lake Mburo, you will get the best of cycling/horseback riding combined and a boat safari. From Lake Mburo National Park, you will return to Entebbe to take a flight back home.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival for your 15 Days Uganda Safari
This day is specifically set aside for arrival and airport pickup at Entebbe International Airport. You will be met by our experienced safari driver guide, who will transfer you to the hotel for relaxation and also take you through the itinerary.
Day 2: Tour Mabamba Wetland –Explore the Shoebill Storks & More!
Enjoy a delicious breakfast and then proceed to Mabamba Wetland for a memorable birding excursion. Expect to search for shoebill storks and several other species of birds. A total of about 300 birds live in Mabamba swamp alone and include purple herons, black crakes, goliath herons, papyrus yellow warblers, African marsh harrier, papyrus gonoleks, and African fish eagle.
Day 3: Visit Murchison Falls National Park & Ziwa
After having a hefty breakfast, you will be transferred to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to engage in the trek with rhinos. The rhino trek will extend for 2 to 3 hours and will be done with the lead of a professional ranger guide from Uganda Wildlife Authority. Once you have located the rhinos, you will have an incredible time taking their pictures and, after, continue to Murchison Falls National Park.
Day 4: Game drive and Boat
Enjoy a hefty breakfast and continue with a memorable game drive. The diverse savanna plains along the Northern circuit of Murchison Falls National Park offer astonishing views of abundant wildlife. Today’s expected sightings include the Rothschild giraffes, leopards, spotted hyenas, Oribi, Uganda Kobs, lions, buffaloes, African elephants, and warthogs. There will be a chance to see birds such as secretary birds, martial eagles, and canaries.
Return to the lodge for lunch after the 2-3 hours dedicated to your morning game drive. In the afternoon, you will proceed with the boat excursion, which will extend for 2-3 hours. During the boat cruise, your focus will be exploring the Victoria Nile River and sighting aquatic species such as the Nile Crocodiles, Hippos, and water birds.
Among the aquatic birds that are commonly spotted here are malachite and pied kingfishers, African fish eagles, red-throated bee-eaters, saddle-billed storks, and more. Several of these birds can be spotted on the Nyamusika Cliffs. At the bottom of the falls, you will be mesmerized by the spectacular views, and after taking photos, you will get back to the Paraa Jetty.
Day 5: Visit Kibale
Enjoy a hefty breakfast, and today, you will be connecting to Kibale National Park by road. Your journey will involve navigating via the Hoima-Fort Portal route and comes with views of the countryside, breathtaking rift valley landscape, farms, and Rwenzori Mountains. Have lunch en route on arrival at Fort Portal City, and you will connect to the lodge for evening relaxation.
Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking & Tour Bigodi
It is a great day to embark on a journey to explore chimpanzees in the wild. The day begins with a briefing and allocation of park ranger guides at the Kanyanchu Visitor Centre. The briefing session begins at 6:30 am and by around 8:00 am, you will start the actual search for chimpanzees. Note: your tour will be conducted on the already habituated chimpanzee community in Kibale, home to over 1500 chimpanzees.
Overall, the chimpanzee trekking excursion will extend for 2-4 hours and covers one hour of up-close and personal interaction with chimpanzees. Beyond chimpanzees, you will get a chance to find other primates –including l’hoest monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys. After the morning chimp trek, you will connect back to the lodge to enjoy lunch, and you will conclude the day with the Bigodi walk.
Day 7: Pick up & Travel to Queen Elizabeth
Check out of the lodge and leave Kibale for Queen Elizabeth National Park. Today’s journey will cover about 2 hours, and en route, you won’t only appreciate the spectacular views of the Crater Lakes and tea farms, but you will also have photography time at the equator. Continue to the lodge to check in and later, proceed to Mweya Peninsula to catch up with the afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. The Kazinga boat experience will cover 2 hours or more and comes with interesting views of aquatic birds, hippos, and crocodiles. Afterward, you will get back to the pre-booked lodge to enjoy meals and have leisure time.
Day 8: Game drives –Kasenyi Track
Enjoy a tasty breakfast, and afterwards, you will continue to Kasenyi for a morning game drive. This is expected to extend for 2-3 hours and comes with amazing views of African bush elephants, buffaloes, lions, antelopes, and warthogs. Get back to have meals and go for afternoon game viewing.
Day 9: Visit Ishasha & Transfer to Bwindi Forest
Have a heavy breakfast early in the morning, and you will be transferred to the Ishasha sector. This is the southern game viewing circuit of Queen Elizabeth National Park, and expect to enjoy 2 hours while exploring the unique tree-climbing lions and other animals.
Day 10: Gorilla trekking
Begin the day with a cup of tea/coffee and report to the respective park offices for orientation on gorilla trekking regulations/rules. This session also includes allocation of park ranger guides to take you on the trek with gorillas. The actual visit to see gorillas begins at around 8:00 am, and you will be transferred to the starting point. The overall gorilla trekking session will cover 2 to 6 hours, inclusive of 1 hour for up close with a group of mountain gorillas that was assigned to you.
Day 11: Batwa Visit and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Have breakfast and later, meet the safari driver to take you through what is ahead of you today. Afterward, you will proceed to the Batwa village/community for a cultural experience. Get to meet the Batwa guide as he takes you through their ancient practices and traditions. Afterwards, you will return just to check out and connect to Lake Bunyonyi.
Day 12: Canoeing experience & evening hikes
After breakfast, you will catch up with a sunrise canoeing excursion on Lake Bunyonyi. On Lake Bunyonyi, you will be spotting some of the amazing birds while also overviewing the breathtaking landscapes of the surrounding terraced hills. In the afternoon, you will be relaxing at the lodge, swimming, or taking a walk around.
Day 13: Tour Lake Mburo
Drive to Lake Mburo National Park, home to several zebras and antelope families. Enjoy a memorable boat excursion on Lake Mburo and expect to come across hippos, crocodiles, and water birds. Have a long evening for you to chill at the lodge.
Day 14: Walking Safari & afternoon game drive
After breakfast, embark on a memorable walking experience. Expect to explore diverse animals at a close range that survive in the distinct habitats of Lake Mburo National Park. In the afternoon, you will proceed with a guided game drive, an amazing opportunity for you to encounter cape buffaloes, leopards, zebras, giraffes, and more.
Day 15: Departure
Leave Lake Mburo National Park for Entebbe or Kampala. En route, expect to enjoy photography time at the Equator and then continue to Kampala.
