Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive at the Airport of Kigali; explore the beauty of the City
Murakaza neza! Hello, and welcome to the “Land of a thousand Hills”.
On arrival at Kigali International Airport, your safari guide will be ready to greet you and transfer you to your hotel, which is about 25 minutes’ drive away.
Your arrival time in Kigali will determine whether to have the safari briefing today or tomorrow after resting/before setting off for Volcanoes National Park.
Also, time permitting, you will explore some of the City’s unmissable historical/cultural sites that include the Kigali Genocide Museum, the Rwanda Art Museum, and others.
Finally, get a chance to visit the local market to hunt for unique souvenirs before returning to the Hotel.
Meals and overnight at: Kigali Serena Hotel/Hotel Des Mille Collines/Flame Tree Village.

Day 2: Kigali to Volcanoes National Park in Northwestern Rwanda; Afternoon visit to the Gorilla Guardian’s Village
Get an early start with a pick-up from the Hotel, then hit the road for your transfer to Volcanoes National Park.
First have a tour of the Kigali Genocide Museum (if it wasn’t visited the previous day) prior to embarking on the journey to northwestern Rwanda.
The journey goes through quiet villages and rolling hills, taking approximately 3.5 hours, depending on how many stops you make to enjoy views of the surrounding scenery.
Established in 1925, Volcanoes National Park is one of Africa’s best-kept secrets and one of the few places where you can see the frisky golden monkeys in their natural habitat. Arrive at the Lodge on time for lunch.
In the evening, you will be introduced to traditional Rwandan cultures and customs through the visit to Gorilla Guardian’s Village.
Some of the activities here include visits to the traditional healer, tours of the King’s Palace replica, and traditional dance performances.
Meals and overnight at the Bishop’s House (luxury), Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge (midrange), or Kinigi Guesthouse (budget).

Day 3: Volcanoes Golden Monkey tracking; return to Kigali and depart
Today is the highlight of your 3-day Rwanda Golden Monkey Trekking Tour as you join Ranger guides for a once-in-a-lifetime expedition into the wilds of Volcanoes National Park.
This is one of the few unique places on Earth where you will find the majestic golden monkeys.
This 160-square-kilometer Protected Area has two habituated golden monkey troops occupying the foothills of Mount Sabyinyo.
The better part of the day will be enjoyed tracking and spending quality time with these majestic creature.
First, ensure to check out of the Lodge and load your bags in the safari jeep before leaving for the Park Headquarters.
Make sure to lace up your sturdy hiking boots and prepare for the one- to three-hour trek to search for these majestic creatures, and this will be climaxed by the 60-minute encounter- watching and taking photos.
Take as many photos as you wish, and after your one-hour encounter, return to the base and start your road transfer to Kigali City.
Lunch will be en route, arriving in Kigali City in the evening.
You will be dropped off at Kigali International Airport in time for your evening flight (recommended not to depart earlier than 2100 hours) or your onward journey.
