Day 1: Arrive in the beautiful Volcanoes National Park via road transfer. Afternoon visit to Gorilla Guardian’s Village

Welcome to your Rwandan gorilla tour experience! Your destination is the beautiful 16000-hectare Volcanoes National Park, meeting up with your experienced safari guide at the Hotel or upon arrival at the Airport. Established in the 1920s, this Protected Area was created to protect the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.

You will be staying at one of the Safari Lodges around the Park, with breathtaking views of the Forest and surrounding landscapes such as Virunga Volcanoes.

Depending on your arrival time, you will have lunch immediately or later after settling in before starting your immersion into local cultures and traditions.

Your afternoon will be spent in the Gorilla Guardian’s village with activities including, but not limited to, a tour of the King’s palace replica, dressing up in traditional Royal attire and acting as a King/Queen for a day, visits to the traditional herbalist, and taking part in dance and music performances by Intore Dance Troupe.

Overnight accommodation at the Bishop’s House (luxury), Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge (midrange), or Kinigi Guesthouse (budget).

Inclusions: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. The Bishop’s House includes house drinks.

Day 2: Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Experience in Volcanoes National Park, Transfer to Kigali City

A fun day waits in Volcanoes National Park. Start the day with breakfast at the Lodge, followed by a transfer to the Kinigi Park Headquarters for briefing.

You will need a packed lunch, hiking boots, enough drinking water, snacks, and a reasonable level of physical fitness for this day’s adventure.

After the briefing, get transferred to the starting point by vehicle, as most starting points are about 20-30 minutes away.

Start searching for the mountain gorillas in the company of armed Rangers/Guides attached to the Rwanda Development Board.

You will go through different ecosystems and occasionally come across birds, other primates, and butterfly species, and find the gorillas 1-4 hours later.

Once found, you will have 60 minutes of watching and taking photos as Ranger guides describe their behavior while they eat, rest, play, and groom each other.

Return to the Lodge for an early lunch and check out of the Lodge before hitting the road for your journey back to Kigali.

Make your way through the Northern Province while taking in the sweeping views of the countryside until the Capital.

From here, you can be dropped off at your place of residence or catch your connecting flight home.
