Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in the City of Nairobi; explore its beautiful Sites

The beautiful City of Nairobi welcomes you. Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta, you will meet your safari driver, who will transfer you to the Hotel. Along the way, you will enjoy views of beautiful greenery and quiet streets.

After settling into the Hotel, your guide will discuss the details of your 5-day Masai Mara Luxury safari and what your safari entails. Later, you have the rest of the day free to discover its stunning historical and religious sites, or relax at the Hotel. You will have access to the swimming pool and spa, if available.

Overnight accommodation at Hemingways Nairobi, Villa Rosa Kempinski, or JW Marriott Hotel Nairobi.

Day 2: Fly from Wilson Airport (Nairobi City) to Masai Mara National Reserve

The actual adventure of the 5-day Masai Mara Luxury safari starts when you leave Nairobi City after a hearty breakfast. Your safari guide will meet you at the Lobby for a short briefing before loading your bags into the safari jeep for a transfer to Wilson Airstrip.

Check-in for your domestic flight is one hour in advance, and the one-hour flight departs at 7:00am. Depending on the accommodation, you will land at one of the 5 Airstrips (Kichwa Tembo, Keekorok, Ol Kiombo, Musiara, or the Mara Serena Airstrip).

Keep your eyes out for the breathtaking aerial views of the Great Rift Valley, Rivers, sweeping savannah plains, and other jaw-dropping countryside areas.

Upon touchdown at the Airstrip, you will meet your field guide, who will transfer you to your Luxury Lodge/Camp.

Lunch at the Lodge/Camp, and enjoy your first taste of Masai Mara on a game drive. As you go, take in the jaw-dropping views of the open plains and spot different wildlife species that include elephants, buffaloes, impalas, Topis, zebras, and many others.

Overnight accommodation at the Safari Lodge/Camp.

Day 3: Explore the beautiful Masai Mara National Reserve: Morning and afternoon game drives

This will be a fruitful day, full of game viewing experiences like no other. Have breakfast and head into the beautiful 151000-hectare Masai Mara National Reserve for your first game drive, stopping at several waterholes for game viewing as well as splendid views of sweeping savannah plains.

Game viewing in the Masai Mara National Reserve is unmatched, as along the way your guide will identify some of the Reserve’s diverse wildlife species, which encompasses over 95 species of mammals as well as about 570 species of birds.

You have great chances of spotting everything from zebras, Defassa waterbucks, Elephants, buffaloes, impalas, cheetahs, Masai giraffes, Hippos, Rhinos, lions, leopards, warthogs, Klipspringers, Oribis, Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles, Aardvarks, spotted hyenas, servals, African wildcats, and so much more. This is also a chance to learn about the Reserve’s unique landscape and vegetation.

You will stop for lunch at the Lodge before continuing with the afternoon game drive. This increases the chances of meeting more animals that were missed during the morning game drive.

Later, continue for a visit to the Maasai village, where you will meet the pastoralist tribe to be immersed in their culture and traditions.

Spend the evening around a crackling fire to reminisce about your day’s adventure, have dinner, and overnight.

Day 4: Watch the Great Wildebeest Migration; afternoon hot-air balloon safari

One of the biggest draws of Masai Mara National Reserve is the “Great Wildebeest Migration”, which is referred to as one of Earth’s “Greatest wildlife shows”.

This is when millions of wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, and other antelopes move from Tanzania’s Serengeti plains to Kenya’s Masai Mara plains in an annual cyclical pattern in search of water and fresh pastures.

The climax of this migration is the massive crossing of the River Mara, as these animals battle against Crocodiles and lions waiting along the banks of the River. The perfect time to enjoy this migration in Masai Mara is from June to September (especially July and August).

Enjoy a picnic-style lunch in the middle of the wilderness.

In the afternoon, you will enjoy a hot air balloon safari that provides one of the best sunset views you will experience during a safari.

This activity provides the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of enjoying a bird’s-eye view of the sweeping plains dotted with different vegetation types and animals (elephants, buffaloes, Masai giraffes, warthogs, impalas, gazelles, and zebras, among others) wandering across the landscape.

The most unforgettable part of this hot air balloon tour is the beautiful sunset views from the far horizon.

After about 60 minutes, the balloon will touch down on the ground, and you will toast the unforgettable experience with champagne and snacks. Get dropped off at the Lodge/camp where you will enjoy the rest of your safari experiences.
