Detailed 7 Days Uganda Wildlife & Primates Tour

Day 1: Arrive in Uganda for Your 7 Days Uganda Wildlife & Primates Tour.

Upon arrival in Entebbe, you will be met and greeted by our airport representative (s), clear customs, and hand over your bags to the field driver for a transfer to the Hotel.

Depending on the time of arrival, you will choose to either relax or explore Entebbe’s environs for its extraordinary attractions.

Overnight accommodation at:

Hotel Number Five (Luxury), Boma Guesthouse (midrange), or Papyrus Guesthouse (budget).

Day 2: Drive to Kibale, Kabarole –Western circuit of Uganda

Today, you will transfer from Entebbe to Kibale Forest National Park with a 6-7-hour scenic drive through the countryside of western Uganda.

This fun-filled journey introduces you to the beautiful countryside marked by huge rock kopjes, rolling hills, vast tea plantations, and verdant Valleys. Lunch will be on arrival at the Uganda Safari Lodge.

Created in 1993, the 79500-hectare Kibale Forest National Park is home to over 13 primate species that include the sought-after mankind’s closest relatives in the animal Kingdom, chimpanzees.

With over 1500 of the country’s 5000 chimpanzees, the Park is a must-see safari destination for unforgettable chimpanzee tracking experiences.

Outside the Park, there is a wide range of accommodations from rustic forest Lodges and Safari Lodges to Guesthouses.

Regardless of your budget, you will find exceptional accommodation in a breathtaking forest, Crater, or hilly landscape.

After arriving at the Safari Lodge, take some time to freshen up and unwind.

Have lunch and relax or go for a swim (depending on the Lodge), or stroll around the Lodge’s surroundings to stretch your legs after the day’s travel.

Top off your evening with a refreshing drink while listening to the sounds of chirping birds.

Day 3: Explore Kibale: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi wetland walk

Today, after breakfast, you will have the entire day to enjoy some of Kibale Forest’s unmissable experiences on offer.

You will board the safari jeep and get transferred to Kanyanchu Park Headquarters for the briefing and later tracking of mankind’s closest relatives in the animal Kingdom.

Join the armed and experienced Ranger guides in the forest for a search for these Giant Apes, and this usually takes anywhere between one and three hours because chimpanzees are finally sighted.

While chimpanzees are the stars of the show during this tracking experience, you will have an opportunity to sight other primate species and lots of birds that call this forest home.

Once sighted, you will be allowed to spend one hour with the chimpanzees (taking photos and learning about their extraordinary behavior) while maintaining the minimum distance of 10 meters away from them.

For lunch, you have an option of trying a traditional Ugandan lunch at Tinker’s homestay or International cuisines at the Lodge (or nearby Lodges, depending on the location of the Lodge you are staying at).

In the afternoon, you have the option of undertaking the guided walk through Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for an insight into the rich wetland diversity in the area.

There are over 8 primate species and about 200 bird species in this Sanctuary, and you will get a chance to interact with some of them.

Day 4: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, afternoon boat ride

After enjoying an early breakfast at the Lodge, you will hit the road for the three- to four-hour drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Enjoy stunning views of beautiful Crater Lakes, verdant Valleys, and vast banana plantations, while being ushered to the sweeping savannahs.

You will have a stop at the Equator crossing and proceed to the Park, arriving in time for lunch.

When it comes to game viewing in Uganda, Queen Elizabeth National Park does not disappoint.

It is home to four of the Big Five Game (African bush elephants, Cape buffaloes, Lions, and Leopards), and over 600 species of birds.

Within this Park, the wildlife you see depends on the ecosystem you explore- the Kazinga Channel, the Kasenyi Plains, the Mweya Peninsula, Kyambura Forest, and many others.

The Kazinga Channel is a popular tourist spot. Safari Boats travel along the Channel, providing visitors with unparalleled views of the vast elephant and buffalo herds on the banks.

In the water, large basks of Nile crocodiles and pods of Hippos gather along the banks, while different species of birds fly over the Channel or relax along the banks.

You will enjoy a 2-hour boat ride along the Kazinga Channel, then return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Morning game drive and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Have breakfast and ensure to check out of the Lodge before leaving for the game drive.

Spend the better part of the morning on safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park.

The open-roof Safari Vehicle allows for excellent game viewing and photographic opportunities, so keep your camera on hand.

Scores of African bush elephants, Uganda Kobs, spotted hyenas, Cape buffaloes, Topis, Defassa waterbucks, lions, and lots of other animals call the Protected Area home.

An incredible 600 bird species reside in the Park, and you will see at least 100 of them during this 3-4-hour game drive.

After a half-day of game viewing, you will straightaway start your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Stop for lunch at Savannah Resort Kihihi, then proceed with the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Day 6: Explore Bwindi Forest: Gorilla trekking and Batwa Community Walk

Enjoy breakfast and get ready for a fun-filled activity today with mountain gorilla trekking.

This experience introduces you to the Giant Apes that are found in only four countries, Uganda being one of them.

This adventure is a combination of goose bump thrills and education, and is done on foot in the company of professional field guides and armed Rangers.

The team will show you the richness of the Park as you sight different bird species, primates, tree species, and butterfly species along the way.

After 1-6 hours of searching for the Giant Apes, you will meet the allocated gorilla family to learn about their extraordinary behavior.

The 1-6-hour guided walk to get to the mountain gorillas is an exhilarating and fulfilling adventure in itself.

Lunch at the Lodge. In the afternoon, you will get a chance to meet the ancient occupants of the East-Central African forests before tourism was introduced.

The Batwa pygmies lived and survived in the forest through hunting, gathering fruits, making bamboo cups, using plants for herbal medicine, and eating wild fruits and plants.

For this tour, you will learn about their ancient lifestyles and be entertained by their traditional dances and songs.

Day 7: Drive to Kampala/Entebbe, Depart

It is time to say goodbye to Uganda and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

After breakfast, you will depart the Impenetrable Forest bright and early and make the 8-9-hour drive to Kampala/or Entebbe.

Depending on your departure time, you will need a day room to relax and freshen up before making your way to the Airport. Safe Travels!
