The Detailed 8 Days Uganda Gorilla Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up from the hotel in Entebbe

Arrival at Entebbe Airport; meet an expert to walk you through immigration and then find the driver guide.

Set off from the airport to the hotel for relaxation and also to get a briefing from the company representative.

Enjoy your dinner and later, retire for the night in a comfortable hotel property in Entebbe city.

Day 2: A journey from Entebbe to Kibale via Fort Portal

After having breakfast, embark on a journey to Kibale Forest National Park via Mityana-Mubende.

Get to Fort Portal city for a lunch break and later, reach Kibale along the Kamwenge route.

You will have a long evening at the lodge and organizing yourself for the next day’s chimpanzee trekking session.

Day 3: Get to connect with Kibale Chimpanzees & explore Bigodi Wetland

It is a memorable day for you to get in touch with chimpanzees in the wild. Get the day started at Kanyanchu with a briefing and allocation of Kibale park ranger guides.

By 8:00 am, you will immerse yourself in Kibale Forest as you search for the chimpanzee community.

The chimp trek will last for 2 to 4 hours, and you will also have an hour for just observing how chimpanzees behave or for you to take pictures.

Walk back and find the driver guide for you to transfer to the lodge for a short relaxation and lunch. Expect to end the day with the Bigodi Wetland Tour, a great opportunity to find more primates plus birds.

Day 4: Kibale to Queen Elizabeth, Kikorongo Equator & Boat cruise

Leave Kibale National Park for Queen Elizabeth National Park, about 2-3 hours’ drive.

En route, don’t miss the Kikorongo Equator photography moment before you reach Queen Elizabeth National Park.

In the afternoon, you will visit the Kazinga Channel to enjoy a 2-3-hour boat excursion while observing aquatic life.

The Kazinga Channel connects Lake Edward and Lake George, and features abundant aquatic species like hippos, crocodiles, and water birds. After the Kazinga boat experience, get back to the lodge to relax.

Day 5: Game drive & transfer to Bwindi with en route spotting of tree-climbing lions

Enjoy an unforgettable game drive through the Kasenyi wildlife trail.

Along this trail, you will have the best of big game sightings including buffaloes, warthogs, elephants, lions, Uganda Kobs, and leopards, etc.

After the Kasenyi game drive, you will be transferred to the lodge to check out and later proceed to Bwindi.

As you connect to Bwindi, you will pass by the Ishasha sector, which is famous for tree-climbing lion watching.

Day 6: Visit the Bwindi Mountain Gorillas in the Jungle & Batwa in the surrounding area

Visit the rare mountain gorillas in the lush Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and this will be on a guided trekking adventure.

This adventure is expected to take 2-6 hours and includes 1 hour to observe mountain gorillas; then you walk back to receive the certificate.

There will also be a chance to pay a visit to the Batwa community to enjoy a thrilling cultural experience.

Day 7: Explore Lake Bunyonyi –boat/canoeing

After breakfast, depart for Lake Bunyonyi and expect a memorable boat ride or traditional canoeing experience.

Over 200 birds survive on Lake Bunyonyi, including the grey-crowned cranes, black herons, swamp flycatchers, great cormorants, and hadada ibis.
